The Trouble With Compassion
A funny, honest and thought-provoking look at the trials and tribulations of trying to be kinder. Featuring poems from my collection, filmpoems, and a nice break halfway through so we can listen to Motown and draw stick-figure portraits of each other. The show comes complete with fruit vs. chocolate challenge, and may result in audiences actually feeling better about themselves.
A young woman tries to find herself in India, only to get increasingly lost. Twenty years later, her diaries give rise to a lyrical poem-play, described by audiences as “mesmerising”, “mellifluous” and “dazzling”. Charting a journey from the dark side of the Goan rave scene to the banks of the Ganges, this show was nominated for Saboteur Award Best Solo Show 2014. Available a capella, or with live tabla music.
